Pathanamthitta
Pathanamthitta, the pilgrimage district of Kerala, is a treat to the eyes with its vast unending stretches of forests, rivers and rural landscapes. Blessed by nature, the district is famous for its scenic beauty, fairs and festivals. The district is frequented by visitors from India and abroad often for its water fiestas, religious shrines and the cultural training centre. It is also known for its extensive forest cover abounding in rubber plantations.It houses plenty of attractions.

Peruthenaruvi Waterfalls is a must watch attraction for tourists that cascades from a height of 60-110 feet. Konni, the agricultural region,11 kms from Pathanamthitta, is rich in cash crops like rubber, pepper, coffee, ginger etc. It is also used as a centre for training elephants.

Mannadi is a folk art centre where Veluthampi Dalawa, the renowned freedom fighter of Travancore, spent his last days. The ancient Bhagawathy Temple here contains some interesting stone sculptures. Mannadi is also the venue of the Kerala Institute of Folklore and Folk Arts.

Muloor Smarakam, the memorial to Muloor, a renowned reformer and poet, is located at Elavumthitta.The annual cattle fair held at Omallur in the Malayalam month of Meenam is the main attraction of Omallur. People from all around Kerala and also many other states participate in the fair.
The picturesque Charalkunnu hill station offers a panoramic view of the nearby valleys. A camp house on the hill provides comfortable lodging. Perumthenaruvi is a famous waterfall on the banks of the holy River Pamba, also known as Thriveni Sangamam, the meeting point of three rivers. Here, the water flows down a rocky bed into a ravine 60 to 100 feet deep. The place is a favourite picnic spot for both domestic and foreign tourists. Tigers, elephants and monkeys can be sighted in the forest surrounding the Kakki reservoir.

Lord Ayyappa is believed to have reincarnated in human form as the son of Raja Pandalam and hence the significance of the place.The devotees to the famous Sabarimala temple visit this place before climbing up the hill. The Maramon Convention at Maramon is attended by Christians from all over the world who gather on the banks of River Pamba during the annual festival season.
