Kasaragod
Kasaragod is a land with resonant past, myths and legends. The fort at Bekal is the largest and best preserved in the State. Kasaragod is acquiring prominence in the tourist map of India as The land of Yakshagana and Theyyam. Kasaragod is also the cradle of many colourful art forms and folk music of Kerala. Boothasthanams of Hindus, Makham Uroos of Muslims and Perunnals of Christians are the famous festivals celebrated in much gaity. The festivals of Boothasthanams are known as Kaliyattam or Theyyam.They form a colourful scenario during the performance.
