Mattupetty

Mattupetty is situated at a height of 1700 m above sea level is 13 Km from town. Mattupetty Lake and Dam is a major picnic spot with the panoramic view of the tea plantations and the lake. Boating facilities are available in the reservoir. Mattupetty is also well known for its highly specialized dairy. There are over 100 varieties of high yielding cattle at the specialized dairy farm and visitors are allowed into three of the eleven cattle sheds at the farm. Mattupetty Dam, has been a vital sources of power, yielding along with other such dams, huge revenue to the States. Rajamala
Rajamala is the natural habitat of Nilgiri Tahr. Half the world population of this rare mountain goat is found here, which is fast becoming extinct. The sanctuary is a part of the Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, and visitors are allowed only to the tourism area in the Rajamala region.


Eravikulam National Park

The Eravikulam National Park was established to protect the Nilgiri Tahr, endangered specie of the wild goat and the only one to be found south of the Himalayas. Rich in forest and grasses, this park is relatively new as it was in 1978 that the area was notified as a park. The park lies along the high ranges of the western coast in the Munnar Forest Division of Idukki district in Kerala.




Anamudi

Anamudi, rising 2695 mts above sea level, is the highest peak in the Western Ghats and in entire South India. It forms an ideal setting for trekking. The easiest route to the summit of Anamudi is a technically easy hike on grass slopes, starting from a rolling hill plateau with a base elevation of about 2000m.
